Learn how to add hanging or first line indents to your text
You can indent your text in Cadmus, making it easy to format your instructions and organise information.
This article covers the following:
First line indent
With Cadmus, you can format your text, so that the first line of your paragraph is indented.
To add a first line indent

Highlight the text you wish to add a first line indent on.

Click the indent dropdown in the formatting toolbar.

Select the first line indent icon.
Hanging indent
In Cadmus, you can format your text to have a hanging indent.
To add a hanging indent

Highlight the text you wish to add a hanging indent to.

Click the indent dropdown in the formatting toolbar.

Select the hanging indent icon.
NOTE: If you have selected a referencing style in your assessment Requirements, the References section for students will be automatically formatted according to that style. For example, automatic hanging indents for APA. If no referencing style has been selected, students can use the formatting toolbar to ad hanging indents themselves.
Removing indents
If you need to remove a hanging or first line indent, you can do this by following the steps below.
To remove an indent

Highlight the text you would like to remove the indentation from.

Click the indent dropdown in the formatting toolbar.

Select the reset indent icon.
Increasing or decreasing indents
If you need to increase or decrease the indentation of whole paragraphs, you can do this in Cadmus by following the steps below.
To increase an indent

Highlight the text you wish to add a hanging indent to.

Click the indent dropdown in the formatting toolbar.

Select the increase indent icon or the decrease indent icon to move your text accordingly.
