Feedback Release and Setting up Penalties

Releasing Feedback and Setting Up Penalties for Multi-Format Exams.

Teachers can now release grades and feedback directly from the Moderation tab once multi-format exams are marked. To release feedback, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Release feedback button in the Moderation tab, which opens the window to select between the Provisional Feedback and Final Feedback options. Provisional feedback can be released multiple times, is released within Cadmus, and doesn't get shared to the LMS, whereas final feedback sends the grades along with the feedback to the LMS. Make a selection and click Next

  2. Select one out of the feedback visibility options - Full Feedback (answers, comments, and marks), Answers and Comments Only, or Marks Only. To enable students to download feedback as a PDF and to notify them when feedback is available, click the toggle pill next to the respective options.

For Group Assignments, use the toggle pill next to Release individual work feedback separately to schedule and release individual feedback on a different date than group feedback.

  3.  In the next panel, choose to release feedback to everyone in the class or a select group. If the Release now for everyone option is selected, feedback will be released after clicking Next.

If the Release Selectively option is selected, schedule release or release feedback instantly, and withhold release for individual students or tagged students. Click +Add to schedule to add further details. After selecting the details, click Release now for everyone, or click Save and Continue to schedule feedback based on the details.

  4. Click Save and Continue, and then Release. If you select the Release now for everyone option, the grades and feedback will be published to all students.

NOTE: Once feedback has been released for any student in the class, no further class-wide moderation decisions such as adding penalties or updating answers can be made.

Setting Penalties

  1. Click the Set-up Penalties button in the Moderation tab to open up a dashboard where rule-based penalties can be added for individuals or groups of students.
  2. In the penalties dashboard, select the penalty type. Select between giving penalties as points by clicking the # icon and as a percentage of the total by clicking the % icon.

If selecting the late by more than penalty type, select the duration after which submissions will be penalised (in days, hours, or minutes), tags (if applicable), and the points deducted for the delay.

  3. If selecting the Other penalty type, provide comments with reasons for the penalty, tags (if applicable), which students the penalty will be applied to, and the points deducted. There is also an option not to apply these penalties with other penalties. Check the box beside this option at the bottom to use this feature.

  4.  Use the edit and delete buttons at the top to revise and remove existing penalties. Click the Add another penalty button to include new penalties. Click on Reset all penalties to create new penalty rules.
