Adding images, graphs and tables

Through the formatting toolbar, it’s possible to upload images, or screenshots of graphs and tables into Cadmus by clicking the cadmus.zendesk.comhcarticle_attachments360002180876image-icon image icon. This means students can add images to their work, and you can add them to your Instructions.

This article covers how to:

Add an image

With Cadmus, the following image file types are supported: .jpg, .png, .gif and .bmp.

To add an image

  1. Click the cadmus.zendesk.comhcarticle_attachments360002180876image-icon image icon in the Formatting Toolbar.
  2. When the upload area comes up, click Upload image from computer.
  3. Select the file you’d like to upload.

Add a graph or table

Cadmus doesn’t currently support creating graphs and tables within the editor. It’s still possible to create graphs or tables outside of Cadmus and upload them as images.

To add a graph or table

  1. Create your graph or table outside of Cadmus (e.g. in Word, Excel).
  2. Save it as an image, or take a screenshot of it.
  3. Back in Cadmus, click the cadmus.zendesk.comhcarticle_attachments360002180876image-icon image icon in the Formatting Toolbar.
  4. When the upload area comes up, click Upload image from computer.
  5. Select the file you’d like to upload.

TIP: If your assessment requires students to add a graph or table to their submission, we’d recommend making this step clear to them.

Resize an image

Once you’ve added an image to your work, there are 3 sizes you can choose from:

  • Fit to text: Your image will resize to fit the width of your text
  • Full width banner: Your image will stretch to the full width of the panel. This is great for section breaks
  • Original image size: Your image will try to maintain its true size. If it’s too large for the screen, it’ll fit the width of the panel

To resize an image

    1. Click on the image you’d like to resize.
    2. The image toolbar will appear at the top of the image.
    3. From this toolbar, select the size option you’d like:
    • Fit to text
    • Full width banner
    • Original image size

Add or remove a caption

Once you’ve added an image to your work, you can choose to add a caption to it.

To add a caption

  1. Click on the image.
  2. The image toolbar will appear at the top of the image.
  3. From this toolbar, click the caption icon.
  4. Type in your caption in the text field below the image.

To remove a caption

  1. Click on the image.
  2. The image toolbar will appear at the top of the image.
  3. From this toolbar, click the caption icon to toggle it off.

Remove an image

If you’re not happy with the image you’ve added to your work, you can always remove it.

To remove an image

  1. Click on the image you’d like to remove.
  2. The image toolbar will appear at the top of the image.
  3. From this toolbar, click the delete icon.

You can always click Undo in the formatting toolbar or (⌘+Z / Ctrl+Z) if you change your mind about deleting the image!
