Referencing

Learn how to add and format your reference list in Cadmus, including supported referencing styles and formatting options.

At the bottom of the Workspace, you’ll find the References section. This is where you can add your end-text reference list. References can either be typed directly into Cadmus or copied in from an external referencing tool, such as EndNote.

You can also find resources to help you understand how to reference in a particular style, in-app via the Cadmus Manual.

TIP: Using the Notes tab in Cadmus instead of working across multiple browser tabs can help keep all your work together in one place and reduce the risk of missing content.

If your teaching team has selected a referencing style for the assessment, the References section will automatically follow that style where possible. This includes things like:

  • the correct heading title (for example, “References” or “Bibliography”)
  • hanging indents for styles such as APA
  • footnote support where applicable

The formatting toolbar can also be used to apply manual formatting, such as bold, italics, and text indentation.

Note: Some formatting requirements, such as double line spacing for APA, are not currently supported in Cadmus.
