Learn how to publish grades for students in Cadmus Group Assessments
In this article, we will learn how to:
Use the Moderation tab
Release Feedback
Set up Penalties
Moderation Tab
- Navigate to the Moderation tab. Note that the Moderation tab can only be accessed after grading of at least one group is complete.
- Below the class performance metrics, you will find the Group Marks and Student Marks tabs. At the top, you will find the scores across groups or scores across students and class performance metrics such as average, highest, lowest, scores, pass rate, and standard deviation.
- In the Group Marks tab, you can view the final submission date, assigned marker, late status, feedback release date, and group score. Grades for a group can be edited by clicking the three dots button adjacent to the group score.
A filter bar allows viewing data based on group, late status, similarity score, grades, or tags. You can also search for a particular group using the search bar to the right of the filter bar. - In the Student Marks tab, you can view a student's group, assigned marker, their grades in peer evaluation, self-evaluation, personal report, and final score. Grades for students’ individual report submissions can be edited using the three dots on the right.
You will find filters similar to the Group Marks tab based on group, late status, similarity, grade, and tags. You can also use the search bar to view data of individual students by name.
NOTE: Once feedback is released for a particular group, changes or edits to individual or group marks via moderation are not possible.
Release Feedback
- In the Moderation tab, click on the Release Feedback button adjacent to the class performance metrics. You will find two options: Release now for everyone, which makes the feedback available for all students in the class, and Release selectively, where you can schedule, withhold, or defer feedback for specific students and groups.
- Next, you will see the Feedback Settings panel. Here, you can control what students are permitted to see when they access feedback. You can select between sharing full feedback, answers and comments only, and marks only options for visibility.
There are options to select whether or not to notify students when feedback is available, show/hide peer evaluation marks and comments, and to release individual report feedback separately.
The feedback visibility settings selected will appear on the right side. Once you are satisfied with the options selected, click on the Next button. - Now you will arrive at the Feedback Release panel. Feedback for the group and individuals can be released by going to the Group Report and Individual Report tabs, respectively.
In both tabs, you can select between options: Schedule Release, to line up feedback release by adding a date and time, and Schedule Now, to instantly release feedback. Click on Add to Schedule to add more feedback release schedules. Click Reset all schedules to remove the added feedback schedules.
In the Group Report tab, you have the option of selecting the groups you wish to release feedback for.
In the Individual Report tab, you can exclude students by tags and exclude individual students.
- Click on the Save and Continue button at the bottom to line up the feedback release. You also have the option to release feedback for the entire class by clicking on the Release Now For Everyone button at the bottom.
- Depending on the number of scheduled feedback sessions, you will see an indicator on the Moderation tab.
NOTE: Peer evaluations are always anonymous. Each student only sees the scores and comments they received.

Set up Penalties
- In the Moderation tab, click on the Set Up Penalties button adjacent to the class performance metrics.
- This will take you to the Penalties panel, where you can deduct points for late submissions and/or other reasons for the entire class. You can add separate penalty conditions for the group and Individual reports.
- In the Group Report tab, penalties apply to an entire group. In the penalty box, you will have to select between ‘Late by more than’ and ‘Other’ options for the Penalty type.
If the ‘Late by more than’ option is selected, you would’ve to add the delay duration (in days/hours/minutes) in the adjacent box, and the points deduction in the box next to the duration.
If the ‘Other’ option is selected, you would’ve to add a description of the penalty in the comments box, the group/s the penalty may apply to, and the points deduction in the adjacent box.
NOTE: If the marking for a group is not done, penalties cannot be set for it. The groups dropdown will stay blank in such a case.
- In the Individual Report tab, penalties apply to individual students. The ‘Late by more than’ option works similarly to the one in the Group Report tab.
In the ‘Other’ option, along with comments and points deducted, you would’ve the option to add tags from a dropdown. Any individual submission with the mentioned tag under the Marking tab would have the specified points deducted from their score. - Click on the edit icon on the penalty box to edit a penalty condition. Click on the bin icon to delete a penalty. Click on the + Add another penalty button to add more rule-based penalties. Click on the Reset all penalties button to clear all the added penalties.
NOTE: Any submission that meets the condition of an added penalty will have the specified points deducted from its score. You can only change this by editing the scores from the Moderation tab.
Once the feedback is released for a group and its members, penalty settings cannot be changed.
